A Spectacular Solar Eclipse: See the Photos
Last Wednesday (12 August), people across the region had the chance to witness a partial solar eclipse. That evening, the Moon covered 83% of the Sun’s disc, creating a spectacular celestial display. The eclipse could also be observed from our Astrobases. Here are some photos from the observation session in Radziejów.
A solar eclipse is not the only astronomical phenomenon that can be observed at the Astrobases. The centres are also inviting astronomy enthusiasts to watch the Perseid meteor shower.
The next observation sessions will take place on Friday, 14 August, and on several dates later this month:

- Gostycyn: 14 August 2026, 7 p.m.–11 p.m.
- Zławieś Wielka: 14 August 2026, 8 p.m.–midnight
- Unisław: 18 August 2026, 7 p.m.–11 p.m.
- Inowrocław: 22 August 2026, 6 p.m.–10 p.m.
- Brodnica: 24 August 2026, 7 p.m.–11 p.m.
- Jabłonowo Pomorskie: 26 August 2026, 7 p.m.–11 p.m.
- Zamek Bierzgłowski: 28 August 2026, 6 p.m.–10 p.m.
- Dobrzyń nad Wisłą: 29 August 2026, 5 p.m.–10 p.m.
Each Astrobasa has prepared its own programme, giving visitors plenty of opportunities to discover the wonders of the night sky. Activities include telescope observations, astronomy presentations, meetings with astronomy enthusiasts and Astrobasa coordinators, educational workshops for children and adults, and popular science talks.
The event is organised by Kujawsko-Pomorska Akademia Innowacji, an institution overseen by the Marshal’s Office.
Admission to all events is free of charge.
