Supporting Tourism Initiatives Led by Non-Governmental Organisations
Hiking and cycling rallies, competitions, promotional campaigns and many other events are taking place thanks to funding from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. This year, the regional self-government has allocated nearly PLN 450,000 to projects implemented by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the field of tourism development and promotion.
“Projects and events organised by non-governmental organisations make an important contribution to the development of the region’s tourism offer and to promoting tourism across Kujawy and Pomorze. It is thanks to initiatives like these that the tourism appeal of our region continues to grow,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Individual grants ranged from PLN 3,000 to PLN 30,000.
Among the supported initiatives is the “In the Constellation Current: Brda–Noteć–Vistula–Zgłowiączka. Water to the Mill” project, organised by the Bydgoszcz Metropolitan Local Tourism Organisation. The project features historical and cultural picnics accompanied by river cruises, workshops and concerts.
Other supported events include:
- the National “Tuchola Forest” Ecological Hiking Rally,
- the “At the Sources of Polish History” Cycling Rallies,
- the National Fryderyk Chopin Hiking Rally,
- the CykloCekcyn hiking and cycling orienteering rally,
- the “Four Seasons in Nakło County” Youth Orienteering Marches.
Regional funding will also support the renovation of several tourist trails, including:
- the Koronowo Lakes Trail in Bydgoszcz County,
- the Three Humanists Trail and the Goplan Trail in Inowrocław County,
- hiking trails in the Krajna Lake District,
- and the installation of signage along the Lake Strażym Shore Trail in Brodnica County.

- Total 2026 budget for NGO projects across all sectors: PLN 10 million
Every year, the regional self-government provides financial support to projects carried out by non-governmental organisations in areas including social policy, culture, sport, addiction prevention, healthcare, tourism and initiatives benefiting people with disabilities.
This year, following 37 grant competitions, a total of PLN 10 million has been awarded to finance 538 projects submitted by 497 public benefit organisations.
