Moldova’s Ambassador Visits Toruń

Vice-Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Zbigniew Ostrowski hosted H.E. Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova Violeta Agrici at the Marshal’s Office in Toruń. Her Excellency was accompanied by Moldova’s Honorary Consul in Toruń, Jan Mrozowski. The talks focused, among other things, on economic cooperation. Polish-Moldovan trade reached a value of more than half a billion euros last year. Poland exports, among other things, agricultural equipment to Moldova, while imports include Moldovan juices and wines. Nearly 100 companies with Polish capital operate on the Moldovan market.

H.E. Ambassador Agrici, who has been serving in Warsaw since March 2025, is a lawyer by training and a career diplomat with 20 years of experience in her country’s foreign service. Her Excellency headed the International Law Directorate at Moldova’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented her country in Spain, and also served as an adviser at Moldova’s mission to the Council of Europe. As the Ambassador to Poland, Her Excellency focuses primarily on soft power initiatives, promoting Moldova’s historical heritage, culture and cuisine, while also supporting Polish-Moldovan cooperation in the fields of business and educational exchange.

Moldova has been seeking membership in the European Union for several years. In 2022, it was granted official candidate status, and two years later it began accession negotiations. Their pace is affected by geopolitical considerations, the country’s internal situation and the need to implement legislative reforms.
