Mogilno County – An Important Destination for EU Funding

European funding provided under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze (EFKP) 2021–2027 programme and the completed Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2013–2020 has played a vital role in modernising road, water supply and sewage infrastructure, as well as supporting social policy and cultural initiatives across Mogilno County. The total amount of funding allocated to the county’s four municipalities stands at PLN 155 million. On 23 October, Marshal Piotr Całbecki will visit Mogilno County.

– Mogilno County has a rich history dating back to the very beginnings of Polish statehood. Today, its development is largely driven by effective local governance and the ability of local authorities to secure and make good use of European funds. The flagship investment of the current EU financial perspective is the Mogilno bypass, but we are equally committed to supporting public bus transport, public healthcare and institutions for which the well-being of others is the highest priority – says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Roads

We are implementing a number of road infrastructure projects in Mogilno County. The most significant of these is the recently completed second stage of the Mogilno bypass, worth PLN 73 million. Major construction work on the roundabout in Rzadkwin is also scheduled for completion this year. The investment is valued at PLN 6 million. In recent years, we have also reconstructed sections of regional roads Nos. 254, 255 and 262. Thanks to European funding, new cycle paths will be developed in the municipalities of Mogilno, Strzelno and Jeziora Wielkie.

Transport

Alongside road construction projects that improve connections between towns and villages across our region, public transport remains a key priority. Mogilno, situated on railway line No. 353 connecting Olsztyn, Toruń, Poznań and Wrocław, serves as an important transport interchange.

The regional government-owned company Kujawsko-Pomorski Transport Samochodowy (KPTS) is building a new bus station in Mogilno. Together with the construction of a bus station in Rypin, this represents one of KPTS’s most important projects this year. The two investments have a combined value of PLN 24 million, of which as much as PLN 17 million comes from the FEdKP programme.

KPTS has also constructed a bus washing facility and three charging stations for modern, environmentally friendly electric buses at its depot in Mogilno.

Social Welfare and Healthcare

Providing care for older people, people with disabilities and those at risk of social exclusion is an essential element of social policy for local governments throughout Kujawsko-Pomorskie. Mogilno County is no exception.

European funding has supported the creation of new places in day care centres and the expansion of care services for residents of the municipalities of Strzelno, Jeziora Wielkie, Mogilno and Dąbrowa. As a result, nearly 200 county residents have benefited from this form of support.

The Independent Public Healthcare Centre in Mogilno has also received PLN 1.3 million in funding. The resources have been allocated to renovation work and the purchase of medical equipment for the ophthalmology outpatient clinic, endoscopy unit and radiology department.

The District Labour Office in Mogilno is a beneficiary of programmes aimed at increasing the professional activity and employability of local residents. A total of PLN 8.5 million has been allocated to the county for the implementation of three stages of the project.

Environment

Investments that significantly improve water supply and wastewater management are a key component of the support provided to local governments. During the current EU financial perspective, European funds have been used to expand water supply and sewage networks in the municipalities of Mogilno, Strzelno and Dąbrowa.

Thanks to FEdKP funding, new sewage systems have been constructed in Gębice near Mogilno and along Kasprowicza, Mickiewicza and Wyszyńskiego streets in Strzelno. An additional PLN 5 million from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO) has contributed to the construction of sewage infrastructure in the municipality of Mogilno. Furthermore, household wastewater treatment systems have been installed across the county with support from the Rural Development Programme.

Education

Education and the development of young people’s vocational skills are among the top priorities of the authorities responsible for schools in Mogilno County.

Thanks to grant funding, vocational workshops and training facilities at the School Complex in Strzelno and the School Complex in Mogilno have undergone extensive modernisation. Students attending vocational schools have also had opportunities to acquire additional professional skills and qualifications.

Support for Businesses and Institutions

The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Loan Fund, an institution established by the regional government to support entrepreneurship across Kujawsko-Pomorskie, has provided loans totalling more than PLN 900,000 to individuals and institutions in Mogilno County during the current EU financial perspective.
