Marshal of the Voivodeship visits 100-year-old Ms. Zofia Gajewska

Marshal Piotr Całbecki paid a birthday visit today (April 14) to Zofia Gajewska, a resident of Brąchnowo near Toruń, who celebrated her remarkable anniversary surrounded by her large family. Along with wishes for many more years in good health, she was awarded the Marshal’s Medal Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis.

Many years in good health, God’s blessing, among family, friends, and kind people! Let us wish for many such wonderful mothers and grandmothers as Ms. Zofia in Poland. I have read Ms. Zofia’s life story and know that it is a story of strength, perseverance, and daily work that builds family and community,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki during the meeting in Brąchnówko. Representatives of the Łubianka municipality were also present, including Mayor Dagna Całbecka.

Zofia Gajewska (née Banach) was born on April 14, 1926, in Dźwierzno in Chełmno County. She grew up in a large family and spent her youth in Browina. Her education was interrupted by the outbreak of World War II, which she survived in her hometown, working as a laundress and helping her mother run the household.

In 1945, she married Konstanty Gajewski. Together they ran a farm and raised four children. Ms. Zofia has a large family: six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, devoted to her family and home, she was also actively involved—while her strength allowed—in the local rural housewives’ association. She is known as a warm, kind, and cheerful person for whom family has always been the greatest value.

The regional government has been honoring residents aged 100 and over since 2018. Anyone whose loved ones are approaching their 100th birthday or are already over 100 is encouraged to get in touch by phone at +48 56 62 18 344 or via email at stulatkowie@kujawsko-pomorskie.pl.
