Energy and Passion in Senior Clubs

Sports activities, handicraft workshops, foreign language learning, social gatherings, trips to cinemas and theatres—altogether, 85 million PLN from the Marshal’s Civic Budget has been allocated to establish senior clubs and implement projects aimed at older residents of the region. Grants are awarded through Local Action Groups (LAGs).

A diverse offer addressed to seniors responds to the growing needs of this social group, which increasingly wants to spend time actively after finishing professional life. The emerging senior clubs are vibrant places—they offer shared trips, meetings, workshops, and activities that develop passions, showing that the autumn of life can be a time of activity, growth, and joy,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The main objective of the funded initiatives is to prevent older people from experiencing the psychological and physical effects of isolation and social exclusion. Since the focus is on social integration, there is also space for activities involving all members of local communities. Senior club members take part in artistic and educational workshops, hobby-development activities, physical exercise and healthy lifestyle programs, as well as training in computer skills, fraud prevention, and cybersecurity.

So far, Local Action Groups have signed grant agreements totaling 28.6 million PLN. Thanks to these funds, 317 senior clubs offering a wide range of activities have already been created or will soon be established.
