Discover the secrets of the night sky – science, observation, environmental protection

Engaging astronomy classes, inspiring workshops, and nighttime observations of stars and planets await participants in the pilot project “Dark Sky at the Astrobase.” Both school groups of children and young people, as well as adults, are invited to take part in the sessions in cooperation with school-based astronomical observatories.

This project is an excellent example of how modern education can be combined with care for the environment. We want residents of our region not only to discover the beauty of the night sky, but also to understand how important it is to protect it from excessive artificial lighting,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The activities are carried out in cooperation with six astrobases located in Dobrzyń nad Wisłą (Lipno County), Gniewkowo (Inowrocław County), Rypin, Brodnica, Jabłonowo Pomorskie (Brodnica County), and Radziejów. Participants will learn the principles of astronomical observation and the basics of astronomy, as well as the environmental impact of artificial lighting. The program also includes workshops, hands-on activities, educational games, and nighttime observations of stars, planets, and galaxies.
