Bydgoszcz Gets a Modern Dental Centre
The Nicolaus Copernicus University Collegium Medicum University Dental Centre was officially opened in Bydgoszcz on 24 September. The city and the region now have a facility where students, researchers and patients can come together under one roof. The University Dental Centre will combine education, research and clinical care. The investment strengthens the university’s clinical facilities while also playing a key role in the development of its dentistry programme. Vice Marshal Zbigniew Ostrowski attended the opening ceremony.
The centre was established to bring together the university’s three core areas of activity: education, research and clinical practice. For students, this means training in an environment that closely mirrors everyday professional practice. Direct access to clinical facilities will allow them to translate theory into practical skills more quickly. The centre also includes dedicated research space. Bringing laboratories together with teaching facilities and professional dental surgeries will create an environment supporting the development of academic dentistry – from chairside practice to scientific research.
The centre will serve not only the academic community. Patients will also be able to access dental services provided using the university’s clinical facilities, giving local residents access to modern care and tangible benefits.
The construction of the facility was co-financed by the Ministry of Health under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The total value of the project was PLN 86 million, including PLN 64 million in funding.
The new centre significantly strengthens the clinical facilities of Nicolaus Copernicus University’s Collegium Medicum and marks a new stage in the education and training of future dentists. Plans also include the development and modernisation of the IT infrastructure, enabling the use of modern tools and technologies in the teaching process. The Bydgoszcz centre is set to become one of the region’s key centres for academic dentistry, bringing together education, research and clinical practice.
