Another Safer Roundabout to Be Built in Bydgoszcz County
A tender procedure is under way for the construction of another roundabout on Regional Road No. 244 in Żołędowo. The project will be delivered as part of the Marshal’s road safety improvement programme for key intersections, financed in part through the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme.
The investment consists of two tasks.
The first and principal task is the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Bydgoska Street and Koronowska Street, where the regional road meets the county road leading towards Bydgoszcz. The central island will be built in concrete and fitted with a truck apron to ensure accessibility for oversized vehicles. The junction will also receive a new stormwater drainage system and street lighting. New pavements and shared pedestrian and cycle paths will be built around the roundabout. Pedestrian crossings and cycle crossings will be separated by refuge islands. The project also includes the construction of an access road to the adjacent stadium.
The second task involves the construction of a new water supply network along Koronowska Street and Bydgoska Street, together with the reconnection of existing service connections. This element of the investment, prepared in cooperation with the Municipality of Osielsko, which will finance it, will be implemented first.
The tender process to select the construction contractor is currently under way. The entire investment is scheduled for completion next year.
Earlier, we commissioned the upgrade of a three-kilometre section of Regional Road No. 244 in Żołędowo, including the construction of a roundabout at the junction of Bydgoska, Jastrzębia and Leszczynowa Streets. Reconstruction of the carriageway and underground infrastructure is currently under way. This project is also being implemented with support from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 programme.
