A new roundabout to be built in Mogilno County

A tender is currently underway for the construction of a roundabout in Rzadkwin on regional road No. 255 in Mogilno County. This is another project implemented as part of our program to eliminate dangerous locations on roads. Last year, we built a new roundabout in Broniewice along this route and modernized a three-kilometre section in the Strzelno municipality.

“Safety is a key issue in road modernization,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “As part of our extensive road investment package, new roundabouts, sidewalks, and illuminated pedestrian crossings are being constructed. We are using European funds for this purpose.”

The main element of this year’s investment will be the construction of a safe roundabout at a location where a so-called broken priority system currently operates. The carriageways leading to the roundabout will be separated by traffic islands. Reinforced shoulders are planned along the entire stretch of the road. The roundabout will be designed to accommodate oversized vehicles. Properly profiled ditches and new culverts will ensure drainage.

The construction of the roundabout in Rzadkwin will also include partial reconstruction of regional road No. 255 along a nearly one-kilometre section – from the road to Bronisław to the section completed last year (at that time, we reconstructed a three-kilometre stretch between Rzadkwin and Bławaty). The investment, completed in December and worth PLN 18 million, involved building a virtually new road structure from scratch. Reinforced shoulders, bus bays, and illuminated crossings were constructed. An important part of the project was also the construction of new drainage ditches and evaporation ponds.

A tender is currently underway to select the contractor for the project. Once the contract is signed, the works will take approximately six months.

Other road investments are also being carried out in Mogilno County:

  • construction of the Mogilno bypass is ongoing
  • preparations are underway for documentation necessary for the reconstruction of regional road No. 254 (Szczepanowo – Dąbrowa, 7.4 km)
  • preparations are underway for documentation necessary for the reconstruction of regional road No. 262 (Bielice – Marcinkowo, 2.8 km)

Upgraded intersections and new traffic lights

The project in Rzadkwin is part of our regional road modernisation programme aimed at eliminating hazardous locations. It is financed using European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie for the years 2021 – 2027, obtained by the Marshal’s Office. So far, we have completed the following projects:

A total of PLN 2 billion will be allocated to the regional road modernisation programme in the coming years. Under the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021 – 2027 (FEdKP 2021 – 2027), our regional programme for the new financial perspective, €136 million will be dedicated to road investments, including our regional bypass construction programme.

Additional central government funding will also be used for expanding road infrastructure (approx. PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for other road upgrades).
