A Father: Responsible, Supportive, and Always There

Blanka Lewandowska from Primary School No. 15 in Grudziądz and Zuzanna Białkowska from the General Secondary Schools Complex in Wąbrzeźno have won our annual competition “My Father – It’s Good to Be Together.” The awards gala took place yesterday (June 22) at the Marshal’s Office. Today is Father’s Day – a celebration of all dads. Photos from the gala are available for download.

This is already the eleventh edition of the competition, which is part of our regional family support programme. We are living in a time of fathers who are aware of their role in the lives of their daughters and sons, and who are involved in their development. Fathers who are also an emotional support and who accompany their children in a friendly way. It is worth promoting such attitudes and emphasizing that this is the right direction in thinking about responsible fatherhood,” stresses Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Traditionally, the competition follows the format of written works evaluated by a jury composed of experts in social policy, education, and upbringing. This year, young authors from 42 educational institutions (80 primary schools and 31 secondary schools) across the region submitted 111 such entries.

Prizes for the best entries are gift vouchers (300–600 PLN) for students (winners of the top three places) and their teachers.

During yesterday’s gala, the prizes were presented by the chairman of the competition jury and director of the Department of Social Affairs at the Marshal’s Office, Marcin Kurasz, and a jury member and consultant at the Regional Teacher Training Centre in Toruń, Ewa Kondrat.
