LAGs at Work: New Funding Opportunities for Local Initiatives Coming Soon
We invite residents, organisations and community groups to explore upcoming grant calls announced by the region’s Local Action Groups (LAGs). Through these partnerships, funding is available for initiatives that address the needs of local communities. Upcoming competitions will provide support, among other things, for starting non-agricultural businesses and developing small-scale public infrastructure.
LAGs also regularly launch calls that help establish youth clubs and senior clubs across the region. These initiatives are delivered with the support of European funding provided through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument.
“Working together with Local Action Groups and the institutions and organisations operating within their structures, we can respond effectively to the real needs and challenges of local residents. This is possible because we have entrusted local communities with both the funding and the tools needed to make use of these resources. In doing so, we have effectively created a citizens’ budget on a region-wide scale,” explains Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Through upcoming competitions administered by the Local Action Groups, funding will be available for:
- Starting non-agricultural business activities. Grant calls supporting the establishment of new businesses will be launched by the “Brodnica Lake District” Local Action Group Association, the “Lower Vistula Bend” Local Action Group, and the “Municipalities of Świecie County” Local Action Group.
- Improving access to small-scale public infrastructure. Grant applications will soon be accepted by the “Lower Vistula Bend” Local Action Group and the Vistula Terra Culmensis Local Action Group – Development through Tradition.
- Supporting children and young people outside formal education. LAGs continue to announce calls that help establish youth clubs and provide extracurricular opportunities. New competitions will soon be launched by the “Partnership for the Land of Kujawy” Association and the “Drwęca Valley” Local Action Group Association.
- Social activation initiatives, including projects that create meeting and integration spaces for older residents through senior clubs. The next call for applications will open on 16 November and will be announced by the “Drwęca Valley” Local Action Group.
Upcoming Calls in Our Local Action Groups
- Eight competitions are planned, with applications opening from 12 November.
- As much as PLN 2 million will be available through the competition organised by the “Partnership for the Land of Kujawy” Association. Funding will support the creation of youth clubs, activities preparing children and young people for academic competitions, and workshops helping young people choose career paths through presentations of disappearing traditional professions.
- Three competitions will support the launch of non-agricultural business activities (Brodnica Lake District LAG, Lower Vistula Bend LAG, and Municipalities of Świecie County LAG). These schemes will provide tangible support for aspiring entrepreneurs, including grants ranging from PLN 50,000 to PLN 150,000 for individual sole proprietorships under the competition planned by the Municipalities of Świecie County LAG.

Funding for these initiatives comes from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 Programme as well as the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
Local Action Groups are partnerships formed by residents, non-governmental organisations and local authorities. Their purpose is to deliver initiatives that energise and develop local communities. There are 27 such partnerships operating in our region (LAG map). They work in both urban and rural areas and make use of European funding administered by the Marshal’s Office, as well as resources provided through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument. By entrusting local communities with both financial resources and the tools needed to access them, we are creating a citizens’ budget on a regional scale. Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is the only region in Poland implementing CLLD on such a large scale.
