Marshal Visits the Higher School of Environmental Management in Tuchola
During his working visit to Tuchola County, Marshal Piotr Całbecki visited the Higher School of Environmental Management in Tuchola today (5 November). During a meeting with the Rector, Dr Krzysztof Kannenberg, discussions focused on the institution’s achievements to date and its development plans. This year, the university expanded its educational offer by introducing a new degree programme in agricultural informatics, combining knowledge of agriculture with modern technologies.
– Modern agriculture is increasingly embracing digital solutions, which is why we need well-trained specialists who are equally comfortable with new technologies and issues related to environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources. I am pleased that the Higher School of Environmental Management in Tuchola is developing its educational offer in precisely this direction – emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The Higher School of Environmental Management in Tuchola (WSZŚ) has been operating since 2003. It is the only higher education institution in the voivodeship established by local governments. Over its 22 years of activity, it has educated a total of 2,058 graduates. The largest number graduated in forestry, with 1,409 completing first-cycle degree programmes and 215 completing second-cycle programmes. A further 313 students obtained degrees in environmental engineering, while 121 graduated in landscape architecture.
The institution is adapting its infrastructure to meet the needs of people with disabilities. It has specialised equipment and software that make studying more accessible to students with hearing and visual impairments.
WSZŚ is also involved in initiatives benefiting the local community. Thanks to funding from the Marshal’s participatory budget, allocated through the Bory Tucholskie Local Action Group, the university will implement the “Borowiackie LOWE” project. The initiative includes plans for free training courses that will enable participants to acquire new skills, pursue their interests and improve their professional qualifications.
