Safety First: Detectors for the Day Centre in Grudziądz

Marshal Piotr Całbecki visited the Day Centre in Grudziądz today (29 September), where he handed over another batch of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors purchased for people in need. Regional Parliament councillor Robert Malinowski also attended the meeting.

“The regional self-government recognises that protecting the safety of people living in our region – particularly older people, those living alone, people with disabilities and others who need support in their everyday lives – requires targeted measures addressing real risks in the home. One such risk is carbon monoxide, a colourless and odourless gas whose presence can go unnoticed until symptoms of poisoning occur,” Marshal Piotr Całbecki wrote in a letter to city mayors, town mayors and municipal heads.

The Grudziądz Day Centre provides support to people who, due to disability, illness or advanced age, require care. In addition to care services, the centre offers therapy and rehabilitation sessions, as well as artistic and educational activities.

The devices funded by the regional self-government will be distributed to 53 people. The initiative is being carried out as part of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Telecare project. The programme provides for the purchase of 20,000 carbon monoxide detectors and their distribution throughout the region.
