Jubilee Knights’ Tournament at Golub Castle
Jousting, mounted contests and spectacular stunt shows – the coming weekend (3-5 July) at Golub Castle will be dedicated to the 50th Grand International Knights’ Tournament. The main partner of the event is the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Regional Self-Government. We warmly invite everyone to attend!
“For half a century, the Knights’ Tournament in Golub-Dobrzyń has attracted history enthusiasts from across Poland. It has become a permanent fixture in our region’s calendar of major events and remains one of its best-known tourist attractions,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “It offers not only spectacular tournaments and displays, but also a living history lesson and a wonderful opportunity for families to spend time together.”
The event will begin on Friday (3 July) with a ceremonial procession of knights through the Market Square in Golub-Dobrzyń. On Saturday (4 July), the official opening ceremony and presentation of the competing teams will take place at 11:00 a.m. From noon, visitors will be able to watch the qualifying rounds of the skill-at-arms, crossbow and archery competitions, as well as the mounted tournament for heavily armoured knights and paired jousting contests. The day’s programme will conclude with the evening stunt show, “Horse and Fire – Two Elements.” The finals of all competitions and the closing ceremony will be held on Sunday (5 July). The accompanying programme includes historical reenactments, sword-and-shield combat demonstrations, living history presentations, tournaments for the youngest participants, a medieval fair, and displays by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Hussar Banner.
