Summer Holidays in the Heart of Nature: The Association of Landscape Parks „Lower Vistula Valley” (Video)

We invite you to spend your summer holidays in our region’s landscape parks. There are ten of them across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, offering outstanding natural beauty and excellent opportunities for recreation. Throughout the summer, the directors and staff of the parks will present short videos showcasing their unique attractions. Today, Łukasz Woźniak, an environmental educator at the The Association of Landscape Parks „Lower Vistula Valley”, invites you to discover this remarkable area.

“The Lower Vistula Valley is distinguished by its rich natural and cultural heritage. It is well worth visiting historic towns such as Chełmno and Grudziądz. Bird enthusiasts will find many fascinating species to observe, while the landscape itself is truly unique – unlike anywhere else in Poland,” says Łukasz Woźniak.

“Our landscape parks are among the region’s greatest treasures. They are home to exceptional natural habitats with rare plant and animal species, attractive trails for hiking and water-based recreation, numerous rivers and lakes, and remarkable examples of our cultural heritage. Each park offers an excellent place to relax, and their unique character encourages visitors to return time and again,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

The Association of Landscape Parks „Lower Vistula Valley” (formerly the Chełmno and Vistula Landscape Parks Complex) comprises three parks: Chełmno Landscape Park, Vistula Landscape Park, and Łosiowe Hills Landscape Park. The latter is the youngest landscape park in the region, having been established in 2018.

Together, these protected areas are exceptionally rich in biodiversity. Around 180 bird species have been recorded here, making the area one of Europe’s most important bird habitats. The parks also preserve numerous traces of the region’s rich history and cultural heritage. The village of Dusocin is the birthplace of the world-renowned surgeon Professor Ludwik Rydygier, and the ruins of his family home can still be seen there today. Visitors will also discover reminders of Dutch (Olęder) settlement, national memorial sites, and characteristic examples of traditional rural architecture, including wooden buildings and structures built from fieldstone.
