Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Chairwoman of the Regional Assembly Elżbieta Piniewska, who visited Inowrocław and Inowrocław County today (May 14), toured, among other places, the Social Services Centre in Inowrocław, where they met with the management of the institution and local government representatives. Grzegorz Piątek, Head of the Rural Municipality of Inowrocław, received carbon monoxide detectors purchased with funds from the regional self-government, which will be distributed to elderly residents of the municipality who attend day care centres.

The decision to purchase the detectors, which are being distributed free of charge to those most in need throughout the region—primarily people aged 65 and over with limited financial means—was made by the regional board during the winter. Local governments are partners in this initiative. The first batch of devices was delivered in February to Chełmno, where they were also distributed among residents attending the local day care centre. The project has a long-term character. Its aim is not only to respond to the revealed scale of the threat—particularly in older buildings and with outdated heating systems—but also to build public awareness and promote good safety practices.

“We purchased 30,000 detectors, and most of them have already been distributed. However, if it turns out that there are still additional needs, we have reserves available. Everyone who needs this kind of support should receive it,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Today’s meeting at the Social Services Centre in Inowrocław was also attended by Senator Ryszard Brejza and Member of the European Parliament Krzysztof Brejza.
