Social Economy Forum in Toruń
Communities involved in the development and promotion of the social economy are meeting today (6 October) in Toruń to discuss challenges and good practices in this sector of the economy. Participants include experts and representatives of non-governmental organisations, community activists and entrepreneurs, including representatives of social economy entities who today received certificates granting them the “Pro-Social Purchase” promotional label for their businesses. The event is attended by Elżbieta Piniewska, President of the Regional Parliament, and Dariusz Kurzawa, Member of the Region’s Board.
The opening lecture was delivered by well-known journalist Marcin Meller, who shared his experiences of his own social engagement, including support for the construction of a secondary school in war-affected Ethiopia.
A guest of the plenary session is Krzysztof Chojecki, a mathematics teacher at one of Warsaw’s secondary schools, known online as Pan Pistacja/Pan Pi. He is the originator and co-creator of the Pi-stacja Matematyka platform, which offers free video lessons used by students throughout Poland. His presentation is entitled “Not Just Knowledge – How to Build Young People’s Motivation and Sense of Agency”.
The discussion panels focus on the directions of social housing development and the future of special and therapeutic education.
The event is accompanied by a photographic exhibition showcasing the work of participants in occupational therapy workshops in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region.
During the forum, a ceremony was held to present certificates for the “Pro-Social Purchase” promotional label, as well as distinctions and acknowledgements to the partners of the third edition of the Social Entrepreneurship Tournament.
