Social Dialogue Council Discusses the Situation at Bydgoszcz Aircraft Works

Marshal Piotr Całbecki took part today in Bydgoszcz in a meeting of the Voivodeship Council for Social Dialogue (WRDS) devoted to the situation at Military Aviation Works No. 2 (WZL No. 2).

Part of the Polish Armaments Group (PGZ), WZL No. 2 is one of Poland’s largest aerospace companies and belongs to the country’s strategically important defence and industrial enterprises.

The company’s current situation is complex. On the one hand, reports of significant financial difficulties have raised understandable concerns among employees about the future of the company and their jobs. On the other hand, WZL No. 2 continues to secure new contracts and expand its operations. Its portfolio includes the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and it has recently signed a contract to overhaul the Polish Armed Forces’ F-16 multirole fighter aircraft. The company employs around 1,400 people, including approximately 800 in Bydgoszcz.

During today’s WRDS meeting, representatives of the trade unions operating within the company and the management board presented their respective positions. Jakub Gazda, President of the Management Board, declared that the company does not plan any layoffs in the near future.
