Road Investments Underway in Inowrocław County
Modernisation of Regional Road No. 299 is beginning in the town of Gniewkowo, Inowrocław County. The project covers the western section of Piasta Street and the junction with Inowrocławska Street, where the Regional Road connects with National Road No. 15. It is one of several road projects being carried out by the Kujawsko-Pomorskie regional self-government in Inowrocław County.
“We are investing in roads that are important for local residents and the regional economy. The reconstruction in Gniewkowo will create a safer junction with National Road No. 15, improve access to nearby properties, and provide better conditions for pedestrians. It is one of several investments we are delivering in Inowrocław County this year,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The project includes the reconstruction of a 750-metre section of Piasta Street between the railway station and National Road No. 15. The carriageway will be widened to seven metres, and a new pavement will be built on the northern side. The scheme also includes new property access roads, street lighting, a stormwater drainage system with a pumping station, and a utility duct. The junction with Dreckiego Street will also be rebuilt.
Further improvements will be made at the intersection with National Road No. 15. Inowrocławska Street will be widened, traffic islands will be installed, and a dedicated left-turn lane for traffic approaching from Toruń will be added. A new service road on the northern side will provide access to adjacent properties, while a new illuminated pedestrian crossing will improve safety. The project also includes upgrades to the drainage and street lighting systems.
The investment, delivered under a design-and-build contract, is valued at PLN 15.4 million and is financed with support from the Government Road Development Fund. The contractor is Strabag. The road investment permit (ZRID) was issued in April. Construction is currently taking place under temporary traffic management, with alternating one-way traffic on Inowrocławska Street and one-way traffic on Piasta Street (from the direction of National Road No. 15). The works are expected to take approximately one year.
More Road Projects Across the County
Several other road investments are being carried out in Inowrocław County this year:
- resurfacing of Regional Road No. 252 between Pławinek and Radojewice (4.1 km, PLN 5.4 million; advanced works in progress);
- reconstruction of Regional Road No. 412 between Rożniaty and Kobylniki (2.5 km, PLN 3.1 million; advanced works in progress);
- repairs to sections of Regional Road No. 246 in Gniewkowo (Powstańców Wielkopolskich Street) and in the village of Lipie (approximately 1.5 km; works are beginning);
- construction of the Trląg bypass along a Regional Road (3.1 km; construction contract signed);
- completion of illuminated pedestrian crossings on Regional Roads Nos. 251, 252, 255, and 412.
Earlier this spring, a new roundabout on Regional Road No. 255 in Broniewice was opened to traffic. In addition, 150 newly planted trees along Regional Road No. 251 between Pakość and Barcin have recently been accepted as part of the region’s roadside greenery programme.
Ambitious Plan
Preparations are underway for further investments in Inowrocław County, including:
- construction of a roundabout in Dziennice on Regional Road No. 252;
- construction of a roundabout in Rybitwy on Regional Road No. 251;
- reconstruction of Regional Road No. 400 between Latkowo and Więcławice;
- reconstruction of additional sections of Regional Road No. 255, beginning with Broniewice;
- reconstruction of sections of Regional Road No. 246, including Kaczkowo – Wielowieś and Ośniczewko – Stanomin.
Regional government funding will also support local authorities in developing new cycling infrastructure, including cycle paths between Pakość and Rybitwy along Regional Road No. 251, and along Regional Road No. 412 in Rożniaty.
Record Investment in Regional Roads
A total of PLN 2 billion has been allocated to the regional programme for the modernisation of Regional Roads over the coming years.
Through the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 (FEdKP 2021–2027) regional programme, EUR 136 million has been earmarked for road infrastructure projects, including the region’s bypass construction programme. Additional central government funding will also support road development, with approximately PLN 170 million allocated for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion and upgrading of other regional roads.
