Primary Schools Invited to Take Part in the “Space Stop” Project

Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region Piotr Całbecki and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Academy of Innovation invite primary schools to participate in the “Kujawsko-Pomorskie Copernicus AstroBases 2.0” project. Places are still available for the “AstroBase – Space Stop” module!

– Kujawsko-Pomorskie is the only region not just in Poland, but also in Europe, with a network of fourteen fully equipped astronomical observatories concentrated within such a relatively small area. I am delighted that so many young people are passionate about astronomy and, under the guidance of enthusiastic teachers, observe distant star systems, keeping our region’s astronomical traditions alive – emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

This is a unique opportunity for pupils to explore the mysteries of the Universe, develop an interest in science and discover the world through experimentation and hands-on activities.

As part of the initiative, we have prepared eight one-day workshops for organised school groups, covering topics including:

  • astronomy demonstrations and educational activities;
  • experiments and practical activities in physics and natural sciences;
  • activities related to astronomy and space exploration;
  • tasks designed to stimulate curiosity and encourage an interest in space.

The workshops will be practical and interactive. Pupils will actively participate in experiments, observations, demonstrations and problem-solving activities.

Organisation of the events:

  • workshops will take place at two locations: Bydgoszcz and Toruń;
  • two workshops are planned for each year of the project, one at each location;
  • each selected school will participate in successive editions of the event over four years, bringing a different group of pupils each time;
  • schools are responsible for arranging transport for participants.

How can schools apply?

A complete application must include:

  • an assessment of pupils’ educational needs, prepared using the appropriate form and approved by the school headteacher or an authorised deputy;
  • a declaration of the school’s participation in the “AstroBase – Space Stop” initiative.

Application forms and other materials required to prepare an application are available at the following link:

Complete application documents should be submitted electronically to:
