Local Action Groups at Work: More Agreements Signed, New Calls for Applications Coming Soon
We invite you to explore the current calls for grant applications announced by Local Action Groups (LAGs) across our region. These grants provide support for initiatives that matter to local communities. Current opportunities include funding for starting a business and establishing Local Knowledge and Education Centres. LAGs carry out projects that engage local residents with the help of European funding made available through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument.
“Working together with Local Action Groups and the institutions and organisations operating within them allows us to respond effectively to the real needs and challenges faced by residents. This is possible because we have entrusted local communities with funding and the tools they need to make use of it. In doing so, we have created a participatory budget on a regional scale,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Calls for applications under competitions announced by three Local Action Groups will open shortly. Grants will be available for, among other things, starting a non-agricultural business, improving access to small-scale public infrastructure and establishing Local Knowledge and Education Centres in Bydgoszcz. Funding for these initiatives comes from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomerania 2021–2027 programme and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Upcoming LAG grant calls
- Three new competitions are coming soon, with application periods opening in the last days of October and the first days of November.
- Establishing Local Knowledge and Education Centres in Bydgoszcz – the call announced by the Bydgoszcz Local Action Group Association “Dwie Rzeki” has a total budget of PLN 500,000. Individual grants may range from PLN 100,000 to PLN 250,000.
- Funding to start a business – another opportunity is being offered by the Local Action Group “Vistula Terra Culmensis – Rozwój przez Tradycję”. The estimated allocation available under this call exceeds PLN 2 million.
- Improving access to small-scale, non-commercial public infrastructure, particularly initiatives supported by local communities – the competition announced by the Local Action Group “Trzy Doliny” has a total budget of more than PLN 3.8 million. Individual applicants may receive between PLN 50,000 and PLN 500,000.
On 26 October at 8 a.m., the Local Action Group Association “Pojezierze Brodnickie” will present grant agreements to beneficiaries at the village community centre in Karbowo (Brodnica County). The competition provides funding for activities supporting children and young people outside formal education. The agreements are worth more than PLN 791,000 in total. The funding will go to nine organisations in Brodnica County, which will use the grants to run activities at additional youth clubs across the region.
Local Action Groups are organisations established by residents, non-governmental organisations and local authorities. Their purpose is to implement initiatives that engage and empower local communities. There are 27 such partnerships in our region. They operate in both urban and rural areas and use EU funding administered by the Marshal’s Office, as well as funds made available through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument.
By placing funding and the tools to use it in the hands of local communities, we are creating a participatory budget on a regional scale. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is the only region in Poland implementing CLLD on such a large scale.
