Eight thousand works from 37 countries were submitted for the 23rd edition of the International Children and Youth Art Competition “Always Green, Always Blue”, organised by the Marshal’s Gallery and Centre for Children’s Artistic Creativity in Toruń. The award presented by Marshal Piotr Całbecki went to Art School in Tallinn, Estonia. Maria Koral’s Ceramics Studio in Toruń received the award presented by Paweł Gulewski, Mayor of Toruń, while the award from the Children’s Gallery and Centre for Children’s Artistic Creativity went to the Youth Palace in Katowice.

The entries were assessed by Dariusz Delik, Director of the Children’s Gallery; Professor Ireneusz Kopacz of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń; and visual artists Ivana Sýkorová, Talivaldis Muzikants and Ieva Muzikante.

The jury awarded 80 individual prizes, three prizes for teachers and three prizes for institutions in recognition of their collections of works.

Competition results

The “Always Green, Always Blue” competition is held every two years. Its title invites reflection on issues related to ecology and environmental protection. The initiative aims to foster creativity, sensitivity and artistic imagination among children and young people. It also promotes thriving centres, studios and other places where a welcoming atmosphere helps young artists develop their artistic talents.

The post-competition exhibition, featuring 808 works selected from 34 countries, also opened to the public on 16 October.

Visitors can see the exhibition at:

  • The gallery’s main venue in Nowomiejski Market Square (until 8 December)
  • The gallery’s branch at the Młyn Kultury cultural centre, 75-77 Kościuszki Street (until 31 December)
