Energy Mill in Grudziądz – halfway through the investment

An educational laboratory, workshop spaces, and an auditorium with 170 seats will be located across four floors of the Energy Mill currently under construction in Grudziądz – a new institution of the regional self-government. The investment project, co-financed by the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze and coordinated by the Marshal’s Office – run Kujawsko-Pomorskie Academy of Innovation (KPAI), is already halfway complete.

“Grudziądz is a city with great potential, and the new institution will complement the local cultural and educational offer. I am convinced that our modern center, with its rich and engaging exhibition, will be eagerly visited by residents of the region,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

In a 19th-century building located in the city center at the intersection of Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej and Młyńska streets, a multi-level exhibition will be created, guiding visitors through different forms of energy:

  • Ground floor – water energy – one of the main features will be a reconstructed historic turbine and an immersive multimedia show
  • 1st floor – electrical energy and the technological revolution associated with its use
  • 2nd floor – biological energy – processes occurring in living organisms and the role of energy in food production
  • 3rd floor – the world of space research
  • 4th floor – a modern biology and chemistry laboratory for experiments and educational activities

The historic building will also include an auditorium with 170 seats, seven rooms for exhibitions and workshops, and a café.

Construction work has already included strengthening the foundations and ceiling structures in the historic section, building roof structures, and installing window frames. In the new part of the complex, the basement, ground floor, and first floor have been completed, and work is currently underway on the next level.

In the coming months, construction of the upper floors of the extension and installation work will continue.

The revitalization of the building and the establishment of the Energy Mill as a cultural and educational institution is a joint initiative of the regional self-government and the city of Grudziądz.

The construction contractor is Fijałkowski Construction Company from Toruń, with completion scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.

The total cost of the investment, including necessary equipment, exceeds PLN 75 million.

At the same time, two additional projects are underway to establish educational, cultural, and scientific centers in Włocławek and Inowrocław.
