The act of unconditional surrender signed by Nazi Germany on 8 May 1945 brought an end to the six-year conflict that claimed millions of lives, including 6 million Polish citizens. We commemorated the victims of World War II by laying wreaths at monuments, memorial plaques, and cemeteries.

On Friday (8 May), the National Victory Day celebrations in Bydgoszcz were attended by Vice-Marshal of the Region Zbigniew Ostrowski and regional councillor Anna Niewiadomska. In Włocławek, the regional government was represented by regional councillor Sławomir Kopyść, while in Toruń it was represented by Region Secretary Marek Smoczyk.
