Discover the film heritage of Kujawy and Pomorze – join the forum!
A film-themed escape room, a new technologies zone featuring VR games, presentations on the lives and careers of Pola Negri and Helena Grossówna, an educational panel for teachers, lectures on the history of cinema and film screenings – all this and much more awaits participants at the second edition of the Forum “The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region in the Past and Today: Cultural Heritage Preserved on Film”, taking place on 16 October at Nicolaus Copernicus University’s Collegium Humanisticum in Toruń. Teachers, students aged 12 and above through to the end of secondary school, history and film enthusiasts, regional history enthusiasts, museum professionals, representatives of cultural institutions, educators, and anyone interested in the history and cultural heritage of the region are all invited to attend.
This year’s Forum is dedicated to the Year of Film People from Kujawy and Pomorze. The event will provide an opportunity to discuss the role of film in shaping historical memory and regional identity, as well as to discover the stories of outstanding filmmakers and other film figures associated with Kujawy and Pomorze.
The programme includes:
- Opening Panel: The Forum will open with an expert discussion on film as a medium of communication and the question of its credibility. This will be followed by an Oxford-style debate involving secondary school students, exploring the relationship between historical accuracy and emotion in film.
- Academic Panel: Participants will hear presentations on topics including the Holocaust in popular culture and the relationship between history, archaeology and cinematic fiction.
- Educational Panel: Designed for teachers and educators, this panel will feature workshops on modern teaching methods, including the use of artificial intelligence, storytelling, educational quests and memory-enhancing techniques.
- Student Panel: Young participants can take part in film workshops, educational and outdoor games, including a game about medieval Grudziądz and “In the Footsteps of the Cultural Figures of Kujawy and Pomorze”, as well as a regional film-themed escape room and film screenings.
- Activity Zone: Throughout the day, the foyer will host exhibitions dedicated to Pola Negri and Helena Grossówna, VR games prepared by the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), and mini recording workshops. The programme will conclude with an evening screening of the film “Piernikarki”.
