Devoted to Those in Need

Representatives of the regional authorities, Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-President of the Regional Parliament Katarzyna Lubańska, are taking part today in the anniversary celebration of the Toruń-based Fundacja Hospicjum Nadzieja, which provides care for ill children and children with disabilities, as well as support for their parents.

The Marshal of the Voivodeship awarded the foundation the Medal of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region “Unitas Durat Palatinatus Cuiaviano-Pomeraniensis”, which was received by the foundation’s president Aleksandra Ruszczak.

“This facility is extremely important – without it, these children would be left without proper care. It fills systemic gaps in today’s healthcare and social assistance systems. For 30 years, thanks to its work and the dedication of its people, light, smiles, and hope have been present in the hearts of its patients. As regional self-government representatives, it is our responsibility to support those who dedicate their lives to helping others. That is why, within our means, we provide support to the foundation (…) Thank you for 30 years of your beautiful mission and for every life you save. A hospice is not a place where people die, but a place where people live,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki during the ceremony held at Dąmbski Palace in Toruń.

The anniversary meeting was attended by, among others, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Toruń Józef Szamocki, Mayor of Toruń Paweł Gulewski, and Head of Łubianka commune Dagna Całbecka, as well as employees, volunteers, and friends of the foundation.

Fundacja Hospicjum Nadzieja, based in Toruń at Służewska Street 7, runs a home hospice service, a nursing and care unit (including a mechanical ventilation sub-unit), and the Children’s “Nadzieja” Centre, which serves as a diagnostic and therapeutic facility.
