Current LEADER calls: grants for initiatives supporting young people and seniors in Grudziądz

There are 27 Local Action Groups (LAGs) operating across our region – partnerships established by residents, non-governmental organisations and local authorities. With the help of European funding made available through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument, they carry out initiatives designed to engage and empower local communities. LAGs announce funding calls on their websites, giving local organisations and residents an opportunity to secure support for projects that address the needs and priorities of their communities. “Working together with Local Action Groups and the institutions and organisations operating within them enables us to respond effectively to the real needs and challenges faced by residents. This is possible because we have entrusted local communities with both funding and the tools they need to make use of it. In this way, we have created a civic budget on a regional scale,” explains Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Recently, the Grudziądzki Spichlerz Local Action Group announced calls for proposals under two programmes. Grants are available for initiatives supporting children and young people outside formal education, including the establishment of youth clubs, as well as projects promoting seniors’ social engagement through the creation and operation of senior clubs and the organisation of activities that encourage older people to take an active role in their local communities. Funding for these initiatives comes from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 programme.

Further LAG calls for grant applications:

• Two further calls, both announced by the Grudziądzki Spichlerz Local Action Group
• a pool of more than PLN 1.3 million for establishing youth clubs in the city of Grudziądz, offering activities such as film, music, art, sports, robotics and programming classes, as well as sessions on local identity and culture, complemented by workshops and study visits;
• more than PLN 690,000 in grants for establishing and running senior clubs and organising events that bring older people together with their local communities. These may include Neighbourhood Days, picnics, neighbourhood Christmas gatherings, intergenerational meetings, volunteer club activities, environmental initiatives organised jointly with young people, performances by theatre groups and singing and dance ensembles from senior clubs at schools and kindergartens, as well as visits by groups of children and young people to senior clubs.

Local Action Groups are organisations established by residents, non-governmental organisations and local authorities. Their aim is to implement initiatives that engage and empower local communities. There are 27 such partnerships in the region (LAG map). They operate in both urban and rural areas and make use of EU funding administered by the Marshal’s Office, as well as funding made available to them through the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) instrument. By entrusting local communities with funding and the tools they need to make use of it, we are creating a civic budget on a regional scale. The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region is the only Polish region implementing CLLD on such a large scale.
