Celebrate with Goose Dishes in Przysiek on 10 and 11 November!

“Kujawsko-Pomorskie Goose for St Martin’s Day” is an initiative launched by Marshal Piotr Całbecki in 2009. This year’s Goose Festival will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, 10–11 November, in Przysiek, near Toruń. We are pleased to share the first details of this year’s campaign.

“Our campaign is an invitation to celebrate together, have fun and spend time with family and friends who, like us, want to mark the anniversary of Poland’s restoration of independence with joy and pride,” emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

This year, Marshal Piotr Całbecki has invited Robert Makłowicz, a well-known television chef and culinary personality, to help promote the goose culinary traditions of Kujawy and Pomorze. The competition accompanying this year’s campaign offers a unique opportunity for cooking enthusiasts and those seeking culinary inspiration. Entries can be submitted until 18 October in response to the question: Why should you take part in a cooking workshop with Robert Makłowicz? Answers must be no longer than 11 words and must include the Polish word “gęsina” (goose meat). The winner will receive an invitation for two people to attend a cooking workshop with Robert Makłowicz.

As every year, as part of the campaign, the regional government is providing residents with goose carcasses for their festive meals. This year, 2,026 geese are being distributed. They could be won in competitions organised by regional and local media outlets. A competition for the best account of a festive meal featuring goose as the main dish will also be announced soon, along with an art competition for children.

Goose collection schedule

The final Goose Festival will offer a wide selection of exceptional products, including regional specialities, organic food and handicrafts. The Goose Tavern will host tasting sessions accompanied by live music and competitions with prizes. There will also be cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs Kurt Scheller, Katarzyna Bosacka, Marcin Budynek and Sébastien Miraux.

Another integral part of the campaign is the serving of goose dishes by restaurants throughout Poland. Information about participating restaurants is available at czasnagesine.pl.

Exhibitors interested in showcasing and selling their products can register with the event organisers using the registration form.

The best goose meat producers will have the opportunity to compete for the Golden Półgęsek Award.
