Socca European Championship Kujawy Pomorze 2027
In June 2027, the European Championship in socca – a six-a-side version of football – will take place in Toruń. A total of 24 teams will compete for the European title. At today’s (4 November) meeting with media representatives, Marshal Piotr Całbecki, President of the International Socca Federation (ISF) Christoph Köchy and President of the Polish Socca Federation Wojciech Dudek discussed details of next year’s event.
– This sport is truly extraordinary! Our players have shown that football is a beautiful game in which great success can be achieved. It is worth spreading this message and encouraging young people to play together. This is particularly important nowadays, and we want the entire region to embrace this event. I am convinced that, together with our partners, we will organise the best championship in the history of this sport – emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
– When selecting the host of the championship, strong support from the host region is crucial. We found exactly that here, both from the Marshal and from many other people. From my very first visit, every door was open to us. I felt that we were all working towards a common goal. This is not always the case, so I am extremely pleased with our choice – said ISF President Christoph Köchy.
– We have a world-class team. I cannot imagine the Polish national team without its key players, who will be fighting for the best possible result at the championship in Toruń – said Polish Socca Federation President Wojciech Dudek.
The press conference was also attended by national team coach Klaudiusz Hirsch and Krzysztof Elsner, a key member of the team who comes from our region.
– I am delighted that I will have the opportunity to play in Kujawy and Pomorze, a region with which I have very strong ties. I come from the Łubianka municipality, and I fell in love with this sport while playing on an Orlik community football pitch in Warszewice. I am convinced that you will fall in love with it just as I did – added Krzysztof Elsner.
Speaking to media representatives, the Marshal announced that the European Socca Championship would be preceded by a series of football tournaments held on Orlik pitches throughout the voivodeship under the banner “Road to the Championship”. Teams will compete for the Marshal’s Cup, with the final taking place at the championship venue.
The championship finals will be held on a temporary pitch constructed in Toruń, surrounded by stands accommodating 3,000 spectators. Fans will also be able to follow the competition in a dedicated fan zone.
The City of Toruń and the Ministry of Sport are also partners of the event.
Socca is a six-a-side form of football played on a smaller pitch, usually with an artificial surface. Each team consists of five outfield players and a goalkeeper. The sport combines elements of traditional football, futsal (indoor football) and amateur football, familiar to many of us from playing on popular Orlik community pitches. One of its greatest advantages is accessibility, as it requires neither a large stadium nor eleven players on each team.
Poland already has a rich history in socca, and its national team ranks among the strongest in the world. In recent years, the Polish team has given its supporters plenty of reasons to celebrate. Its greatest achievements came in 2025, when Poland won the European Championship and then, for the first time in history, claimed the world title.
Previously, in 2018 and 2019, Poland won silver medals at the World Championship on two occasions. In 2026, the team added another World Championship bronze medal to its collection, repeating its achievement from four years earlier. Altogether, Polish players have reached the podium at major international tournaments six times over the past decade.
Polish representatives have also earned international recognition. National team coach Klaudiusz Hirsch has twice been named World Coach of the Year, while Norbert Jaszczak has received the Golden Ball award twice.
Now another major challenge awaits the Polish national team. In June 2027, they will have the opportunity to compete for the European title in Toruń.
The Polish team is counting on packed stands and enthusiastic support from fans across Kujawsko-Pomorskie.
