Volunteer Fire Brigade Station in Pokrzydowo Modernised

Volunteer firefighters in Pokrzydowo, Brodnica County, are now using their extensively modernised fire station. During his visit to this part of the region, Marshal Piotr Całbecki congratulated the firefighters on the completion of the investment, which forms part of a comprehensive programme to support emergency services across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region.

“Volunteer firefighters are always there when residents need them most,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Our responsibility is to provide them with the best possible conditions in which to carry out their duties. I am pleased that, thanks to this investment, the building has been significantly upgraded and will serve the volunteer firefighters of Pokrzydowo even better.”

The investment cost PLN 1.2 million, of which PLN 500,000 was provided through the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027 programme (FEdKP).

The regional government remains firmly committed to improving public safety. Under the current EU financial framework, nearly PLN 20 million has been allocated specifically to infrastructure for Volunteer Fire Brigade (OSP) units. Thanks to this funding, fire stations across the region are being modernised and expanded, with new garages and welfare facilities being constructed.

Support for both the State Fire Service (PSP) and Volunteer Fire Brigades (OSP) also includes investment in modern equipment. The scale of purchases financed through EFKP is substantial, with the total value of projects aimed at equipping emergency services exceeding PLN 60 million, including PLN 40 million from EFKP.

The equipment purchased includes:

  • 29 fire and rescue vehicles, 11 specialised vehicles for transporting rescue personnel, 11 multipurpose off-road vehicles and 5 specialised vehicles for operations at height;
  • modern operational drones;
  • specialised rescue boats, trailers and portable fire pumps;
  • advanced hydraulic rescue tools essential for rescuing victims of road accidents.

Under the Regional Operational Programme for the previous financial period (2014–2020), we equipped Volunteer Fire Brigade units with 83 fire and rescue vehicles. Volunteer firefighters also received several hundred pieces of equipment essential for emergency response operations.
