Carbon Monoxide Detectors for Seniors in Brodnica County
Marshal Piotr Całbecki today (30 October) handed over another batch of carbon monoxide detectors purchased by the regional government. The devices were distributed to beneficiaries of the day care centre in Ciche (Brodnica County). The event was also attended by Senator Ryszard Bober, Regional Assembly Councillor Paweł Zgórzyński and local government representatives.
“It is hard to believe how many homes are still not equipped with such devices. The risk is not limited to the heating season – gas water heaters operate throughout the year. Safety is our priority, which is why we continue to distribute carbon monoxide detectors that can save lives and protect people’s health. We should trust these devices, but at the same time remain vigilant and remember to have our installations inspected regularly,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The project is a long-term initiative. The purchase of detectors will continue with funding from the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027 programme. A total of 20,000 devices will be distributed to people who require assistance with everyday activities due to age, health conditions or disabilities and who live in homes equipped with appliances that may emit carbon monoxide, including boilers, stoves, fireplaces and gas water heaters.
The detectors will be distributed by the project’s partners – municipalities across the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, which have reported the number of devices needed based on an assessment of their residents’ needs.
The Day Care Centre in Ciche is one of more than 80 modern facilities established with support from the European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie 2021–2027 programme. It provides services for older people, people with health conditions and people with disabilities who require assistance with everyday activities.
Participants benefit from professional care provided by qualified staff, therapeutic activities, activities promoting social engagement (including theatre, arts and crafts, and music), social integration activities, psychological support and transport services.
