Kujawsko-Pomorskie’s Historic Monuments: More Heritage Sites Regain Their Former Glory

From construction and conservation work to the restoration of works of art, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie regional government has been implementing its historic preservation programme for 17 years. To date, the funding provided has supported more than 3,000 projects. This year alone, over PLN 15 million has been allocated for this purpose.

– Restored historic monuments are the result of our collective efforts – emphasises Marshal Piotr Całbecki. – Particular recognition is due to the owners and administrators who look after these properties on a daily basis, protect them from deterioration and work hard to secure funding for their maintenance. The need for restoration remains considerable, which is why we consistently support their efforts.

The largest individual grant awarded this year amounted to PLN 300,000. The 246 projects selected for funding include conservation and restoration work in churches, including those in smaller towns and villages, palace and park complexes, historic tenement houses and heritage buildings housing public institutions.
