Nakło and Brodnica to get new railway stops in December
Two new railway stops – Nakło nad Notecią Zachodnie and Brodnica Południowa – will be added to the Kujawy and Pomorze railway map later this year. Passengers will be able to use them from December, when the new train timetable comes into effect.
“We are consistently bringing regional passenger rail services closer to residents. Thanks to our cooperation with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, we are locating new stops where both large cities and smaller towns are developing, while access to trains has so far been limited. We want regional rail to be a genuine alternative to travelling by car – not only because of the increasingly attractive range of connections, but also because stations and stops are being located closer to where passengers live,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Nakło nad Notecią Zachodnie
The new stop is being built on the Kutno–Piła Główna railway line, near the level crossing along Dąbrowskiego Street. It will make rail travel more accessible for residents of western Nakło, who will no longer have to travel to the town’s main railway station to catch a train.
The new stop will provide convenient access to both platforms for passengers with disabilities. The platforms will feature shelters, benches and passenger information boards, among other facilities.
Regional trains serving destinations including Bydgoszcz and Piła will stop here. The new stop will therefore become part of an important rail corridor linking the western part of the region with Bydgoszcz and the Wielkopolskie Region.
The project is being carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe under the Government Programme for the Construction and Modernisation of Railway Stops for 2021–2025. The project is worth nearly PLN 13 million.
Brodnica Południowa
The new stop in Brodnica is being built on 18 Stycznia Street. Its location will make rail services more convenient for residents of the southern part of the town.
The importance of the new stop will increase when regional train services are scheduled to return to the Brodnica–Rypin route in December. This will give residents of southern Brodnica direct access to the reactivated rail connection.

The project includes the construction of a modern platform with access from 18 Stycznia and Witosa streets. The facility will also be fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. The platform will include a shelter, benches, information boards and clear signage, while bicycle racks will be installed nearby.
The project will also improve safety at the level crossing along 18 Stycznia Street. The crossing will be equipped with new barriers, traffic lights and a monitoring system with incident recording.
The project is worth PLN 3.4 million and, like the new stop in Nakło, is being carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe under the government railway stop programme.
More new railway stops
Nakło nad Notecią Zachodnie and Brodnica Południowa are not the only projects aimed at improving access to rail services for residents of the region.
In recent years, several new stops have been added to the region’s railway map, making it easier for passengers to access both regional and long-distance services.
New railway stops include:
- Tuchola Rudzki Most
- Grudziądz Tuszewo
- Grudziądz Śródmieście
- Grudziądz Rządz
- Dąbrowa Chełmińska Centrum
- Trzeciewnica (Nakło County).
In addition to constructing new stops, the railway company has modernised the Bydgoszcz Zachód and Grzybno stops (Chełmno County) and built a new access route to the Grudziądz Mniszek stop.

As the organiser of regional rail services, the regional self-government will continue to pursue its transport policy in cooperation with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. The aim is to ensure that rail is accessible not only through an adequate number of connections, but also through stops located as close as possible to the places where passengers live and work.
In 2026, the regional self-government’s subsidies for the railway operators selected through a tender – Arriva and Polregio – amount to a record PLN 267 million. This figure also includes the cost of fees paid for access to railway infrastructure and station charges, totalling PLN 37 million.
The regional self-government has a steadily growing fleet of 33 trains. Further trains manufactured by Bydgoszcz-based Pesa will take to the tracks next year. The seven trainsets ordered by the regional self-government are worth PLN 330 million.
