Road investments around Tuchola
Further regional roads are currently being upgraded in Tuchola County. Work is underway on routes connecting Tuchola with Sępólno Krajeńskie and Czersk in the Pomeranian Region. A new roundabout in Gostycyn has already been opened. The total value of this year’s investments in regional roads in this part of the region is PLN 20 million.
In July, we began the reconstruction of regional road No. 241 along a nearly four-kilometre section between Wieszczyce and Pamiętowo. This is the last section of the regional road connecting Sępólno Krajeńskie and Tuchola that still required upgrading. The investment is worth almost PLN 6 million and is being carried out by Zakład Usług Komunalnych J.R. Pilarski from Nakło nad Notecią.
In addition to reconstructing the carriageway, the project includes:
- restoration of road shoulders,
- construction of two bus stop platforms,
- renovation of five culverts,
- installation of safety barriers,
- restoration of road markings.
The works are scheduled for completion later this year.
Work is also well advanced on regional road No. 237 between Brody and Woziwoda. A four-kilometre section is being reconstructed and is expected to reopen to traffic in October. The nearly PLN 7 million project includes, among other things, the construction of two bus stop platforms and two culverts, installation of flexible safety barriers, restoration of roadside drainage ditches, reinforcement of road shoulders, replacement of vertical road signs and restoration of road markings. The contractor is Marbruk.
Pedestrian crossings in Wieszczyce, Mały Mędromierz and Tuchola (on Czarna Droga) will also receive improved lighting. The project is part of our programme to improve safety at pedestrian crossings and around bus bays and stop platforms, financed with funding from the Government Roads Development Fund.
Roundabout completed
Construction of a new roundabout in Gostycyn, along regional road No. 237, was completed in spring. The three-arm roundabout was built at the junction of Główna, Tucholska and Pilska streets. The project also included the construction of a nearly 800-metre shared pedestrian and cycle path along Tucholska Street.
The project cost more than PLN 4.5 million. It also included the construction of a stormwater drainage system, new bus bays, pavements, lighting and property access roads. The works were carried out by Solo Duo Sp. z o.o. The project was commissioned by Gostycyn Municipality, which secured government funding for its implementation.
Further investments
We are also making intensive preparations for further road investments in Tuchola County:
- as part of the next stage of our roadside avenue restoration programme, this autumn we will plant 196 lime trees, 108 maples and 47 rowans along regional road No. 240. New trees will be planted, among other locations, in the municipalities of Kęsowo, Tuchola and Lubiewo, including along the Płazowo bypass;
- design work is underway for the reconstruction of the section of regional road No. 237 running through Legbąd;
- we are working on the design for a new roundabout in Tuchola at the junction of Czerska, Chojnicka and Główna streets;
- an application for a decision authorising the construction of the Tuchola bypass is scheduled to be submitted this year;
- as part of PKP PLK’s expansion of the Coal Trunk Line, a new overpass will also be built in Błądzim along regional road No. 240, connecting Świecie and Tuchola.
Record spending on roads
PLN 2 billion will be allocated to the regional road modernisation programme for the coming years. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021–2027 (FEdKP 2021–2027), our regional programme for the new funding period, we are allocating EUR 136 million to road investments, including our regional bypass construction programme.
Some of the projects to expand road infrastructure will also be financed with central government funding secured for the region – approximately PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other roads.
