Half a Million Złoty for Beekeepers in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region

Beekeepers from the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region have received another round of financial support from the regional budget. Today (22 July), grant agreements were presented under the “Improving the Health and Sanitary Conditions of Bee Colonies” open call for proposals, implemented within the framework of ecology, animal protection and the preservation of natural heritage. The total value of the grants amounts to PLN 500,000.

The funding will be distributed to organisations representing beekeepers whose apiaries are located in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. The programme aims to improve the health and disease resistance of bee colonies through the purchase and distribution of a specialist high-protein supplementary feed in the form of bee fondant. A total of 68,327 bee colonies across the region will benefit from the initiative.

“Bees play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity and ensuring food security. That is why we consistently support initiatives that help protect their health and provide favourable conditions for apiaries throughout our region,” emphasised Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Regional Beekeepers’ Association of Kuyavia and Dobrzyń Land in Włocławek – PLN 150,870
Regional Beekeepers’ Association in Toruń – PLN 121,741
“Polanka” Association of Polish Beekeepers – PLN 37,081
Association of Beekeeping Enthusiasts in Złotoria – PLN 1,511

The amount awarded to each organisation was calculated in proportion to the number of registered bee colonies within its area of operation.

This is already the fourth round of regional funding allocated by the regional self-government to support supplementary feeding for beekeepers in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. In addition to programmes aimed at improving the condition of bee colonies, the regional self-government has for many years implemented a range of initiatives supporting the beekeeping sector. These include educational programmes promoting the importance of bees for the natural environment, projects dedicated to biodiversity conservation, and activities that foster the development and integration of the regional beekeeping community.
