Road Investments at the Halfway Point of the Year
The construction season on the region’s Regional Roads is in full swing. Thanks to record investment exceeding PLN 600 million, we are upgrading additional road sections, building bypasses and safe pedestrian and cycle paths. Some projects have already been completed, while further investments will be opened to traffic this autumn.
“Upgraded roads, new roundabouts, convenient bypasses, cycle paths, and safe, well-lit pedestrian crossings – the results of our efforts are visible across the region. We are successfully making use of external funding, including resources from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze,” said Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
Completed Projects
This spring we completed a number of investment and maintenance projects launched last year, including:
- completion of the renovation of the Wąbrzeźno Bypass, 7.8 km, Wąbrzeźno County
- opening of the roundabout in Broniewice on Regional road No. 255, Inowrocław County
- reconstruction of the Lipno – Kłokock section of Regional road No. 558
- modernization of the Orzechowo – Ryńsk section of Regional road No. 551, 3.1 km, Wąbrzeźno County
- reconstruction of the Gzin – Raciniewo section of Regional road No. 551, 1 km, Bydgoszcz County
- modernization of the Sierakowo – Kowalewo Pomorskie section of Regional road No. 554, 4 km, Golub-Dobrzyń County
- reconstruction of the Runowo – regional border section of Regional road No. 242, 5.7 km, Sępólno County
- completion of the reconstruction of a 2 km section of Regional road No. 562 in Kamienica, Lipno County.
We also completed another package of roadside tree planting. New avenues of mature trees now line:
- Regional road No. 251 between Barcin and Pakość (Żnin and Inowrocław counties)
- Regional road No. 551 in Raciniewo (Chełmno County)
- Regional road No. 550 in Chełmno (Chełmno County).
Projects Underway
Major works are currently progressing on many routes. The most important investments include:
- modernization of Regional road No. 268 between Brzezie and Brześć, 10 km, Włocławek County
- construction of Stage II of the Mogilno Bypass on Regional road No. 254, 1.6 km, Mogilno County
- widening and upgrading of Regional road No. 551 between Strzyżawa and Nowy Dwór, 3.2 km, Bydgoszcz County
- widening and upgrading of Regional road No. 563 between Rypin and Stępowo, 7.6 km, Rypin County
- widening and upgrading of Regional road No. 244 (Jastrzębia Street) in Żołędowo, 3.2 km, Bydgoszcz County
- widening and upgrading of Regional road No. 299 (Piasta Street) in Gniewkowo, 0.8 km, Inowrocław County (works commenced in July)
- construction of a roundabout in Barcin on Regional road No. 254, Żnin County.
We have also commissioned numerous resurfacing and reconstruction projects on Regional Roads. Advanced works are underway on:
- Regional road No. 553, Łubianka – Różankowo section, 6.3 km, Toruń County
- Regional road No. 543, Lembarg – Wichulec section, 4.2 km, Brodnica County
- Regional road No. 649, Kiełbasin – Sierakowo section, 7.8 km, Golub-Dobrzyń County
- Regional road No. 252, Pławinek – Radojewice section, 4.1 km, Inowrocław County
- Regional road No. 412, Rożniaty – Kobylniki section, 2.3 km, Inowrocław County
- Regional road No. 554, Moszczonne – Kikół section, 5.3 km, Lipno County
- Regional road No. 557, Janiszewo – Makówiec section, 5 km, Lipno County
- construction of a roundabout in Rzadkwin on Regional road No. 255, Mogilno County
- Regional road No. 557, Nadróż – Nowy Kobrzyniec section, 5 km, Rypin County
- Regional road No. 566, Ostrowite – Brzuze section, 1.8 km, Rypin County
- Regional road No. 189, Zakrzewska Osada – Witunia section, 4 km, Sępólno County
- Regional road No. 237, Brody – Woziwoda section, 4 km, Tuchola County
- Regional road No. 269, Strzygi – Huta Chodecka section, 1.3 km, Włocławek County
- Regional road No. 269, Choceń – Wilkowiczki section, 3.5 km, Włocławek County
- Regional road No. 251, Murczyn – Młodocin section, 5.2 km, Żnin County.
We are also completing a programme to improve lighting at pedestrian crossings. The package includes lighting upgrades at 249 pedestrian crossings and 27 bus stops across the region.
Planned Projects
Preparations are underway for further investment and maintenance projects. Key initiatives include:
- construction of the Trląg Bypass on a regional road, 3.1 km, Inowrocław County (contract signed)
- construction of the Brodnica Bypass on Regional road No. 544, 3.5 km, Brodnica County (tender preparation underway)
- construction of a roundabout in Żołędowo on Regional road No. 244, Bydgoszcz County (documentation in progress)
- construction of a roundabout in Ośno on Regional road No. 266, Aleksandrów County (tender in progress)
- reconstruction of additional sections of Regional Roads throughout all counties
- continuation of the roadside avenue restoration programme.
We are also working intensively on a programme to construct further bypasses. We are currently awaiting construction permits for the Więcbork and Sępólno Krajeńskie bypasses. This year we will also submit an application for a construction permit for the Tuchola Bypass. The Rypin Bypass is planned under the design-and-build procurement model.
New cycle paths are also being built within the regional road corridors. These projects are being implemented by municipal governments using funding from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027.
Record Investment
More than PLN 2 billion has been allocated to the regional programme for the modernization of Regional Roads over the coming years. Under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 (FEdKP 2021-2027), €136 million has been earmarked for road infrastructure projects, including the regional bypass construction programme. Additional projects will also be financed through central government funding, amounting to approximately PLN 170 million for bypasses and around PLN 450 million for the expansion of other Regional Roads.
