Investing in the Sporting Talents of Kujawy and Pomorze
More than PLN 2 million will be allocated to 92 sports clubs across Kujawy and Pomorze. Thanks to this funding, children and young people will be able to develop their sporting passions under the guidance of coaches, take part in training camps and major competitions, and benefit from improved training conditions. Grant agreements were presented to club representatives by Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska and Regional Parliament President Elżbieta Piniewska.
“Supporting sports clubs through a comprehensive, long-term approach has been one of the priorities of the regional self-government for many years. We have been doing this continuously since 2007 because we know that achievements on major sporting stages begin with solid training at the local level,” emphasizes Marshal Piotr Całbecki.
The amount of funding awarded to each club depends on athletes’ achievements within the nationwide Youth Sports System. Successes across all age categories are taken into account: younger juniors, juniors, and youth athletes.
The clubs may use the allocated funds, among other things, to pay coaches’ salaries, rent sports facilities, purchase modern equipment, cover transport costs, and provide accommodation and meals for athletes during training camps and competitions. The beneficiaries include clubs representing a wide range of disciplines – from athletics, rowing and canoeing to judo, fencing and weightlifting, as well as handball, volleyball, table tennis and cycling. The list includes both major sports centres, such as Bydgoszcz’s Zawisza, Toruń’s Copernicus and Grudziądz’s ALKS Stal, and smaller clubs such as Husaria Lubraniec and Zryw Dobrcz.

We regularly support athletes and co-finance the organization of sporting events. More than four hundred athletes, coaches and sports officials from Kujawy and Pomorze received awards from the regional self-government and Marshal’s Office scholarships this year.
Residents of the region will also gain new opportunities for active recreation. This year, the regional self-government is allocating nearly PLN 6 million to expand sports infrastructure. Supported projects include the modernization of a tennis court in Grudziądz, expansion of a skate park in Inowrocław, construction of a kayak polo field in Chełmża (Toruń County), creation of a sports and recreation area in Stary Jasiniec (Bydgoszcz County), and construction of an outdoor gym at Secondary School No. 1 in Rypin.
