“Sezony” Returns to the Big Screen at Toruń’s CSW
The comedy Sezony was produced in cooperation with the Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund. The film will be screened in Toruń during the Kontakt theatre festival.
A screening of Sezony, directed by Michał Grzybowski, will take place on Monday, 1 June, at Kino Centrum in the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń. The screening will accompany the 30th International Kontakt Theatre Festival, as the story itself is set in the world of theatre.
Sezony premiered in 2024. The comedy tells the story of a marital crisis experienced by actor couple Marcin and Ola. The plot unfolds during three different stage productions, where the characters’ private lives intertwine with the reality of the theatre stage. The entire film was shot in Toruń, including scenes filmed at the Wilam Horzyca Theatre. The leading roles are played by Łukasz Simlat and Agnieszka Dulęba-Kasza, while the cast also includes stars such as Andrzej Seweryn and Andrzej Grabowski. The film was created in partnership with the Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund.
The Polish production also caught the attention of John Anderson, a critic for The Wall Street Journal, who published a favorable review on the newspaper’s website. In the article “A Polish Comedy About Marriage and Art,” he described the film shot in Toruń as “very funny and charming.”
For her portrayal of Ola, Agnieszka Dulęba-Kasza received the Best Actress award at the 18th Off Camera Film Festival 2025 in Kraków. In the same year, during the International Tofifest Film Festival, she received the Marshal of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship Film Award named after Pola Negri.
Dulęba-Kasza has appeared in many television series, including Samo życie, Pierwsza miłość, Komisarz Alex, and Prawo Agaty. She earned critical acclaim for her role as Kasia in the 2021 film Biały Potok, which brought her a nomination for the Maciej Kozłowski Award at the Kozzi Film Festival in Zielona Góra.
The creator of Sezony, Michał Grzybowski, is an actor, screenwriter, and director of films such as Biały Potok, Hitler w operze, and the debut feature Non sono pronto.
