The Polish Federation of Film Discussion Clubs has played an important role for decades in promoting ambitious cinema and film education in Poland. The organization brings together more than 120 Film Discussion Clubs (FDCs) operating throughout the country. Seven of them are located in our region. The Federation supports their programming, educational, and organizational activities. Thanks to the FDCs, successive generations of viewers have the opportunity to discover valuable arthouse, documentary, and independent cinema, often unavailable in the regular repertoire of commercial cinemas.

The history of the FDC movement in Poland dates back to the 1950s. At a time when access to world cinema was limited, Film Discussion Clubs became meeting places for cinema enthusiasts, as well as spaces for exchanging ideas and discussing the art of film. The Federation organizes training sessions, seminars, and events devoted to film culture. An important part of its work is also cooperation with film festivals, cultural institutions, and film schools. As a result, FDC members gain access to preview screenings, meetings with filmmakers, and educational materials that help audiences interpret films.

Seven FDCs operate in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region, both in large cities and in smaller towns. Their activities are especially important in smaller communities, where they often serve as local centers of film culture. The screenings and meetings they organize help integrate local communities and develop the cultural awareness of audiences. In many towns, the clubs operate within libraries, community centers, or arthouse cinemas, creating spaces for thoughtful reflection on the art of film.
