2026 Year of Kujawy People of the Cinema. Meeting with Marcin Ogdowski at WATCH DOCS

Journalist, blogger, and former war correspondent Marcin Ogdowski will be the guest of the Toruń edition of the festival WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film this Friday.

Ogdowski, a native of Toruń, is a sociology graduate of Nicolaus Copernicus University. He is often referred to as “the first Polish war blogger” and runs the popular blog “Bez kamuflażu” (“Without Camouflage”). He worked as a war correspondent in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2024, his book “Killing Ukraine. An Alphabet of Russian Aggression” was published, considered one of the most important compendiums of knowledge about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

On Friday, April 24, Marcin Ogdowski will appear at the Toruń edition of WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film, held at the Artus Court. He will discuss mechanisms of information manipulation and their role in modern conflicts. “In times of information overload, it is increasingly difficult to distinguish facts from manipulation, and false narratives become tools of influence, control, and destabilization. Disinformation has serious consequences – it leads to the escalation of conflicts, the radicalization of social attitudes, and the erosion of trust in institutions,” the organizers announce.

The talk titled “Architects of Chaos – Disinformation in the Service of Conflict” will begin at 7:00 PM and will be hosted by PAP journalist Tomasz Więcławski. Admission is free. Earlier, at 5:30 PM, the documentary “Truth or Dare” directed by Tonislav Hristov will be screened, focusing on propaganda, manipulation, and conspiracy theories.

The event is part of the celebrations of the 2026 Year of Kujawy People of the Cinema, established by the Regional Parliament of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region.

The travelling festival WATCH DOCS. Human Rights in Film is one of the most important events in Poland dedicated to documentary cinema and human rights issues. Its 24th edition will visit two cities in the region: Toruń (April 21-24) and Włocławek (June). The festival combines socially engaged cinema with public debate.
