Year of Kujawsko-Pomorskie people of cinema: Meeting with Tomasz Ziętek

On 8 September 2026 at 6:00 p.m., the Wąbrzeźno Cultural Centre will host a meeting with Tomasz Ziętek, an actor born in Inowrocław. The event is addressed to film enthusiasts and those interested in stories from behind the scenes of the film industry. It will provide an opportunity to talk to the actor directly, learn about his experiences and discover his more personal perspective on cinema. Participants will also have the chance to ask questions and discuss his artistic work and professional career.

Tomasz Ziętek is one of the most recognisable actors of the younger generation. Film audiences may know him from such productions as Stones for the Rampart, Silent Night, Corpus Christi, Leave No Traces and Operation Hyacinth. He has also appeared in television series and international productions. Ziętek is also a musician, guitarist and vocalist of the band The Fruitcakes.

He was born in Inowrocław in 1989 and began his acting career at a very young age. In 2005, he made his stage debut at the Nowy Theatre in Słupsk in Polish Bethlehem. He later graduated from the Danuta Baduszkowa Vocal and Acting School at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia. His early screen appearances included the film Black Thursday. Janek Wiśniewski Fell, while his breakthrough came with the role of Rudy in Robert Gliński’s Stones for the Rampart.

His subsequent roles confirmed his versatility. Ziętek appeared, among others, in Małgorzata Szumowska’s Body, Piotr Domalewski’s Silent Night, Jan Komasa’s Corpus Christi and Jan P. Matuszyński’s Leave No Traces. In 2021, his performance in Operation Hyacinth earned him a nomination for the Zbigniew Cybulski Award.

In recent years, Ziętek’s career has gained even greater momentum. For his role as Krzysiek, a young jockey in Bartłomiej Ignaciuk’s film Wielka Warszawska, he received the Best Actor Award in the Polish Feature Film Competition at the Mastercard Off Camera Festival in 2026. The jury praised his empathetic and sensitive performance.

Toruń also holds an important place in Ziętek’s links with the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region. In 2022, during the 20th Tofifest International Film Festival, he received the Mayor of Toruń Award, the “Flisak”.
