Mountain Film Festival at the “Niebieski Kocyk” Student Cinema
Audiences in Toruń will see 12 films, including seven Polish premieres of mountain, travel and outdoor cinema.
The Mountain Film Festival in Cinemas presents some of the most compelling documentaries about mountains, climbing, expeditions and people pushing their own limits. It is organised by the Andrzej Zawada Mountain Festival in Lądek-Zdrój, while the nationwide film showcase serves as a preview of the festival’s forthcoming 31st edition.
“The Mountain Film Festival in Cinemas is not only for mountain enthusiasts. These films tell stories of courage, passion, perseverance and dreams – stories that inspire, whether one is climbing eight-thousanders or overcoming the challenges of everyday life,” the organisers explain.
This year, for the first time, the participating cinemas include the “Niebieski Kocyk” student cinema, based at the Od Nowa Academic Centre for Culture and Art at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. It will host three festival evenings. From 31 August to 2 September, audiences will see 12 films, including seven Polish premieres. The filmmakers come from countries including France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada and Indonesia.
The screenings, comprising three approximately two-hour film blocks, will take place simultaneously in 31 cities across Poland.
“Over the course of three festival evenings, audiences will have the opportunity to watch a carefully selected programme of documentaries devoted to mountaineering, sport and ice climbing, trekking, skiing, cycling expeditions and the exploration of the world’s most remote regions. The programme includes both acclaimed international productions and Polish premieres,” the organisers add.
The full programme, film descriptions and online tickets are available on the Mountain Festival website.
