Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund: “Murder at the Philharmonic” – Meet the Filmmakers in Chełmno

How was a crime story set in a 1970s philharmonic hall brought to life? Who was behind the production, and what surprises awaited the actors on set? These questions and more will be explored during a meeting with the creators of the film Murder at the Philharmonic (Morderstwo w Filharmonii), taking place on 13 November 2026 at the Rondo Cinema and Theatre in Chełmno. Before the screening, audiences will have an opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes story of the production.

At 4:45 p.m., a discussion is scheduled with director Maciej Hydr and actors Jarosław Boberek and Aleksandra Hamkało. The guests will talk about their work on the film, the development of their characters and the atmosphere on set during the making of this crime story. There will also be anecdotes from filming and an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. The pre-screening meeting will offer a glimpse behind the scenes and reveal how the director and actors brought to life the mystery that will soon unfold on screen.

Of particular interest is the production’s connection with Bydgoszcz, which served as one of the film’s shooting locations. The city’s architecture and distinctive urban spaces provided the backdrop for a story set in the 1970s. Filming took place at several locations, including the Pomeranian Philharmonic, the headquarters of Polish Radio PiK, the Pod Orłem Hotel and various streets throughout Bydgoszcz.

The filming in Bydgoszcz is another example of the cinematic potential of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region and its appeal to Polish filmmakers. The film was produced in cooperation with the Kujawy Pomorze Film Fund and with support from European funds under an EU-funded project promoting local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with particular emphasis on the creative industries through the placement of products and services in the film.

The meeting will take place on 13 November 2026 at 4:45 p.m. at the Rondo Cinema and Theatre in Chełmno. Admission to the discussion with the filmmakers is included in the ticket for the screening of Murder at the Philharmonic. Audience members are encouraged to arrive early and take advantage of this opportunity to meet the people behind the production in person.

Murder at the Philharmonic will be released in cinemas across Poland on 20 November 2026.
