Visit of the German Ambassador
Marek Wojtkowski, a member of the regional board, hosted the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Miguel Berger, yesterday (April 28) at the Marshal’s Office. The visit was related to the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Polish-German Treaty on Good Neighbourship and Friendly Cooperation. The talks focused primarily on interregional economic cooperation.
For years, our western neighbors have been Poland’s largest trading partner, while Poland is currently Germany’s fifth most important trading partner. The regional sectors most actively engaged in this economic exchange include the machinery, electrical engineering, food, and chemical industries.
Ambassador Berger spoke, among other things, about the offers of Polish-German chambers of industry and commerce. He also emphasized his appreciation for the developmental leap achieved by Poland and our region in recent decades. He noted that he remains impressed by our region, which he has now visited for the second time.
The Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region began its cooperation with German partners in the 1990s. Currently, the most fruitful partnership is with the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, which has resulted in numerous joint initiatives in the fields of economy, education, and culture.
