The Volunteer Fire Brigade Station in Mokowo after a comprehensive renovation
Volunteer firefighters from Mokowo in Lipno County are now using a thoroughly modernised station building. During their visit to this part of the region, Marshal Piotr Całbecki and Vice-Marshal Aneta Jędrzejewska congratulated the firefighters on the completion of the investment, which is part of a wide-ranging plan to support emergency services in the region.
“Volunteer firefighters are always there where residents need them most,” stressed Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Our task is to provide them with the best possible conditions for their work. I am pleased that thanks to this investment the building has gained a new standard and will serve the firefighters of Mokowo even better.”
The fire station in Mokowo has undergone a comprehensive renovation. The works included replacing the roof covering, insulating the building, replacing the entrance doors, installing sanitary facilities, replacing the flooring and radiators in the main hall, renovating the façade, and installing a platform for people with disabilities. The investment cost more than PLN 1 million, of which nearly PLN 400,000 came from the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze (FEdKP) 2021 – 2027.
The meeting was also attended by Regional Councillor Sławomir Kopyść, Mayor of Dobrzyń nad Wisłą Piotr Wiśniewski, Chair of the Dobrzyń nad Wisłą City Council Krzysztof Pryciak, Member of Parliament Krystian Łuczak, Parish Priest of St Mary Magdalene Parish in Mokowo Fr Zbigniew Milczarek, Mokowo village head Sława Błażejewska, and members of the Mokowianki Rural Housewives’ Association.
The regional self-government consistently prioritises safety. In the current financial perspective, nearly PLN 20 million has been allocated solely to building infrastructure for Volunteer Fire Brigade (OSP) units. Thanks to these funds, fire stations across the region are being modernised and expanded, while new garages and social facilities are being built.
Support for fire services (both the State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Brigades) also includes investment in modern equipment. The scale of purchases financed through FEdKP is impressive – the total value of projects aimed at equipping emergency services exceeds PLN 59 million. The purchased equipment includes, among others:
- 29 rescue and firefighting vehicles,
- 11 special vehicles for transporting rescuers,
- 11 multi-purpose off-road vehicles,
- 5 special vehicles for operations at height,
- modern operational drones,
- specialist rescue boats, trailers and portable pumps,
- advanced hydraulic tools essential for rescuing victims of road accidents.
Under the previous regional operational programme (RPO for 2014–2020), Volunteer Fire Brigade units received 83 rescue and firefighting vehicles. Firefighters also received several hundred pieces of equipment essential for carrying out rescue operations.
