Open Days at Hospitals in Bydgoszcz, Toruń and Ciechocinek

Two days devoted to preventive healthcare began today (11 September) in Toruń and Bydgoszcz. At the Ludwik Rydygier Regional Integrated Hospital in Toruń and the J. Brudziński Regional Children’s Hospital in Bydgoszcz, residents were able to take advantage of free examinations, consultations and specialist advice. Tomorrow (12 September) there will be another opportunity to take care of your health – a health and education picnic, co-organised by the Oncology Centre in Bydgoszcz, will be held in the park of the Pod Tężniami Health Resort Clinic in Ciechocinek.

– Regular preventive examinations and vigilance are the most effective weapons in the fight against serious diseases. Early diagnosis gives doctors the opportunity to act effectively and patients a chance of making a full recovery. I invite everyone to attend the meetings and consultations being organised this weekend by three of our regional-government hospitals – encourages Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Examinations and consultations available:

mammography examinations in a mobile mammography unit, as well as instruction in breast and testicular self-examination
assessment of skin parameters and condition combined with skincare advice
consultations with specialists from the Oncology Centre in Bydgoszcz, including a gynaecologist, urologist, specialists in breast and thoracic cancers, an oncology dietitian and a psycho-oncologist
physiotherapy advice
Nordic walking sessions and visits to the salt cave
panel discussions featuring, among others, Prof. Janusz Kowalewski, Director of the Oncology Centre in Bydgoszcz, and Dr Adrianna Makarewicz, Regional Consultant for Clinical Oncology
stands run by patient organisations, the Amazons breast cancer support groups and the STOMAlife Association, as well as an educational stand of the State Forests, where visitors will be able to receive a free tree seedling.

During the Open Days at the Regional Integrated Hospital in Toruń, both at the main hospital at 53–59 Św. Józefa Street and at the Specialist Hospital for Children and Adults, residents were able to take advantage of, among other things, laboratory and microbiological tests, mammography examinations, physiotherapy advice and medical consultations.

At the Regional Children’s Hospital in Bydgoszcz, basic preventive health measurements were carried out for children, along with consultations and advice provided by specialists in paediatrics, endocrinology, cardiology, otolaryngology, surgery, anaesthesiology and intensive care. There were also demonstrations of resuscitation techniques for children and adults using training mannequins.
