Summer Holidays in the Heart of Nature: Tucholski Landscape Park (Video)

We invite you to spend your summer holidays exploring our region’s landscape parks. There are ten of them across the Kujawsko-Pomorski Region, offering outstanding natural beauty and excellent opportunities for tourism and relaxation. Throughout the summer, the directors and staff of the parks will introduce viewers to their unique attractions in a series of short videos. Today, Remigiusz Popielarz, Director of Tucholski Landscape Park, invites you to discover one of the region’s most remarkable natural areas.

“In the Brda River Valley, you can experience truly wild nature and a genuinely untamed river. A canoe trip here is an unforgettable adventure. You can also find a real ‘diamond’ – the common kingfisher, the symbol of Tucholski Landscape Park. This exceptionally colourful and fascinating bird is often referred to as a jewel of nature,” says Director Remigiusz Popielarz.

“Our landscape parks are among the region’s greatest treasures. They protect magnificent natural habitats with rare species of plants and animals, offer excellent opportunities for hiking and water-based recreation, and feature countless rivers, lakes, and valuable cultural heritage sites. Each of our parks is a wonderful place to relax, and their unique charm keeps visitors coming back year after year,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki.

Tucholski Landscape Park was established in 1985 to protect rare species of plants, fungi, and animals, as well as the historical traces of the region’s cultural heritage. The park covers the south-eastern part of the vast Tuchola Forest and extends across both the Pomorskie and Kujawsko-Pomorski Regions.

The park’s symbol is the common kingfisher. The Tuchola Forest, particularly along the Brda and Wda rivers, is home to one of the highest local breeding densities of this species in both Poland and Europe. In 2010, Tucholski Landscape Park became part of the Tuchola Forest Biosphere Reserve, the largest UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Poland.
