Salt Festival in Ciechocinek

The Marshal’s Office-owned Ciechocinek Health Resort invites everyone to Ciechocinek this Friday and Saturday (14–15 August) for a two-day event celebrating the history of one of Poland’s oldest spa towns. The programme includes salt-making demonstrations and free tours of the Saltworks Museum, cooking shows and workshops, healthy food tastings, a concert of popular Polish and Italian songs, as well as a performance by the Ciechovianie ensemble, which creatively draws on Kujawy folk traditions. There will also be a 5-kilometre run open to all long-distance running enthusiasts.

“The Salt Festival has become a permanent fixture in the summer calendar of events in the Pearl of Kujawy. Apart from, of course, having a good time, its purpose is to showcase the heritage of our most beautiful health resort, founded on natural brine deposits,” says Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “On behalf of the regional government-owned company Ciechocinek Health Resort, the Society of Friends of Ciechocinek and the Municipality of Ciechocinek, I warmly invite everyone to join us!”

  • Venue: the area in front of the Saltworks Museum, 6 Solna Street.

On Friday (14 August), the festival will begin with an “appetiser” – a cooking demonstration, a salt-making presentation and a screening of a film about the salt factory, starting at 2 p.m.

On Saturday (15 August), the second day of the Salt Festival will bring the “main course”: tours, demonstrations, workshops and plenty of good food. Performing on the outdoor stage will be Maciej Korzeniewski, Pippo Di Leo and Paweł Sobota, Tomasz Thiede, and Formacja Ciechovianie. The “For Edward Stachura” run will start on Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Saltworks Museum.
