Mogilno Bypass Opened

In the presence of Marshal Piotr Całbecki, President of the Regional Parliament Elżbieta Piniewska, and Members of the Regional Executive Board Dariusz Kurzawa and Marek Wojtkowski, the Mogilno bypass was opened today (October 27). The complete route completely diverts transit traffic on Regional Road No. 254 away from the city center. As part of the project, a new 1.5-kilometer road section was built from scratch, along with a roundabout and an overpass over the Panna River. We carried out the project using European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027.

“This investment is an important element completing the modernization of Regional roads in Mogilno County,” emphasized Marshal Piotr Całbecki. “Thanks to the bypass directing heavy trucks away from the city, downtown streets can continue to serve local traffic, pedestrians, and cyclists. I would like to thank the local governments and the contractor for their good cooperation. Despite challenging ground conditions, we managed to efficiently complete this task and open the road for public use today.”

The new section connects the existing roundabout in Świerkowiec with the village of Żabno. As a result, transit traffic has also been removed from the southern part of Mogilno. The first section of the bypass (from Wiecanowo to Świerkowiec) was built in the previous decade. The newly completed investment included the construction of a 220-meter overpass over the Panna River. Due to weak soil conditions, reinforcement using concrete piles was necessary. At the intersection with the existing regional road and the local road toward Bystrzyca, a new four-leg roundabout with sidewalks and pedestrian crossings was constructed. Animal culverts, sewage systems, and drainage ditches were also built along the route. This autumn, over 200 trees and nearly 2,000 shrubs will be planted around the road. Construction work was carried out by Strabag.

The total project value is 72 million PLN. The investment is co-financed by European Union funds under the European Funds for Kujawy and Pomorze 2021-2027 program.

The opening of the route was also attended by Member of Parliament Iwona Kozłowska and local government officials.

Kujawsko-Pomorskie Bypass Construction Program

The Regional Executive Board is systematically increasing the pool of funds allocated for design and construction work within the regional bypass program. It covers bypasses with a total length of over 70 km. Its implementation over the coming years will cost one billion PLN. For the expansion and modernization of road infrastructure under our regional program for the 2021-2027 perspective, we are allocating a record sum of 136 million euros. Furthermore, we secured 170 million PLN from central national funds for three bypasses – Brodnica, Rypin, and Tuchola. See Kujawsko-Pomorskie invests in bypasses.
